Unlike many think tanks funded by giant oil and pharmaceutical corporations with varying degrees of financial interests that can negatively impact the objectivity of research outcomes, BCEIC functions with an entirely different mindset. In order to maintain neutrality and objectivity in the research and results we conduct, BCEIC does not accept funding or donations from any business corporations.
We keep our operating expenses extremely low, as we are able to count on our like-minded members for support. Our members, who mostly serve in teaching positions across British Columbian public universities, volunteer their time as needed. Furthermore, our members also fund us with private in-house donations to cover for our limited operating expenses. Such a system ensures BCEIC’s financial independence, and strengthens our ability to produce objective, reliable academic research results.
